Mix the thrill of the Spanish F1 Grand Prix with a week in the Spanish sunshine and a cruise around the Med on the wonderful MSC Cruise Liner Orchestra. Fly from your local airport and enjoy 7 nights in the 4* All Inclusive in the resort of Santa Susanna on the Costa Brava, just 40 miles from the City of Barcelona.
For practice and qualifying on Friday & Saturday you can access the motor racing circuit via Barcelona on the train whilst on the busy race day on the Sunday we’ll lay on a return transfer to make life easy and make the most of race day.
Situated alongside the Mediterranean in the far south of the Costa Brava, Santa Susanna is more laid-back than some of its bigger neighbours. Instead of packed sands and bass-thumping nightlife, you’ll find beaches with plenty of elbow room and low-key restaurants where dinners can stretch out for hours.
Santa Susanna’s course-sand beaches roll out along the coast for a good couple of kilometres. Backing them is a long promenade, lined with cafés and restaurants, which carries on into the neighbouring town of Malgrat. Behind the beach is the old town where the cobbled streets are worth a wander.
You’ll be staying at either the 4* Htop Royal Sun or 4* Htop Royal Sun Suites, either on the beach or close by and offering a wealth of facilities with all your drinks, food & entertainment included.
Then on the 17th May you’ll join the MSC Orchestra from Barcelona cruise port for a 7 night Full Board cruise where you’ll call in on 6 diverse ports and have plenty of time to enjoy the liners wonderful facilities, food and entertainment.
Sailing on the early evening of the 17th we wave goodbye to Barcelona and head overnight for Corsica and the first of our stops in Ajaccio, where you can wander the ancient streets of the old town and enjoy smart cafes, restaurants and shopping. From Ajaccio we head to the Italian port of Civiavecchia, the gateway to Rome. Whilst Civiavecchia is a delight to explore on its own, most head for the Capital Rome and its famous sights like the Colosseum, the Forum, the Sistine Chaple, the Trevi Fountain and of course Vatican City.
Next up is the Gulf of the Poets, La Spezia, an impressive sweeping panorama of islands and rough headlands, this major naval & shipbuilding centre boasts a fine art gallery with one of the finest collections of medieval & Renaissance art. From La Spezia you’ll cruise overnight to Genoa which is marvellously eclectic, vibrant and full of rough-edged style. Why not explore its old town: a dense and fascinating warren of medieval alleyways home to large palazzi built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by Genoa’s wealthy mercantile families and now transformed into museums and art galleries.
The following day you’ll be back on French soil as we call in at Cannes. With its immaculate seafront hotels and exclusive beach concessions, glamorous yachts and designer boutiques, Cannes is in many ways the definitive Riviera resort, a place where appearances count, especially during the film festival, whilst the old town, known as Le Suquet after the hill on which it stands, provides a great panorama of the curve of Cannes’ bay. On its summit stand the remains of the fortified priory lived in by Cannes’ eleventh-century monks, and the beautiful twelfth-century Chapelle Ste-Anne.
You’ll leave Cannes late afternoon and you’ll be able to enjoy the evening on board and the following morning or use the time for a well deserved lay in before arriving in Palma de Mallorca in the early afternoon, you’ll not be leaving until after midnight so have plenty of time to soak up the capital of Mallorca. Then you’ll cruise back to Barcelona arriving in the morning before joining your flight back to the UK.
